A collaborative dance performance about what it means to be ‘home’ told through movement and sound. Silence Between Waves brings together a cast of three exceptional Singaporean dancers with a community cast drawn from Torbay. It is an invitation for audiences to consider what home means to them, set within the arresting landscape and seascape of Berry Head. The performance connects two places across the sea by reflecting on home and far away.
Richard Chappell Dance will be delivering workshops with Dance in Devon, ROC Creative, Brixham Academy and The Spires School, to encourage meaningful dialogue on international collaboration, and to recruit participants to take part in two workshops on Berry Head that will culminate in performance moments of ‘Silence Between Waves’.
The work is supported by Arts Council England and is a collaboration with Dance in Devon who will support Richard Chappell through mentoring and community engagement. It also establishes new partnerships for Richard Chappell Dance with Singapore’s National Arts Council and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.
Suitable for all (particularly age 10+). Please bring a blanket to sit on and warm layers in case of cold or light rain. This is an outdoor performance - please check for event updates before travelling. In the event of bad weather, cancellation notices will be posted on this website and on our social media.
