An annotated performance-lecture by the master showman-historian Dr Tony Lidington (AKA the Reverend Uncle Tacko!) Find-out about the history of pre-cinema and itinerant storytellers - or ‘raree men’, as they were known.
Travelling showmen have been telling their tales of morality and mortality for centuries and this is an engaging glimpse into that world, with a chance to get your hands on some of the optical devices that were used before the bioscope and cinema came into being.
(Optical devices kindly loaned by the Bill Douglas Cinema Museum.)
Suitable for ages 10 to 110.
