Richard Chappell
Richard Chappell grew up in Torbay and is an internationally renowned choreographer and performer. He trained at the Royal Ballet School's Associates programme, Tring Park School and has a BA(Hons) from Rambert School. In 2013, he formed an ensemble of dancers to act as a platform for his choreographic research and touring activities. Most recently, the company was commissioned by the Royal Opera House and The Linbury Trust to create a new work called Still Touch, in collaboration with sculptor Anna Gillespie.
As a guest choreographer, Richard has created works for Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, Frontier Danceland (Singapore), Trinity Laban's Transitions Dance Company, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore), BalletWorks, Chichester University, YDance (Scotland), Dance City, Dance in Devon and the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain. He has led choreographic workshops for School of the Arts Singapore, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, ArtEz Institute of the Arts (Holland) and Lasalle College of the Arts, amongst others. Richard is a past Discovery Artist at Pavilion Dance South West, Resident Artist for Dance in Devon, Spark Artist at the Pegasus Theatre and Royal Opera House Young Creative.
