What is Eyeview?

Eyeview is the cultural programme for Torbay’s Great Place Scheme. Through 2019, Eyeview will be supporting creative projects that are then shown through a series of events to help us celebrate, discover and re-imagine Torbay.

How has it been paid for?

Torbay’s Great Place Scheme is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England. Many of the individual projects that we have developed as part of Eyeview have been co-funded with partners both nationally and internationally. On each of the event/project listings we have included this information.

Are all the event sites accessible?

All of the main events across the Eyeview programme have step-free access. There are, however, some additional events, including guided walks, that are less accessible or require a certain level of fitness. As part of our wider promotion of interesting events in the bay, we will also be signposting to some venues that do not have step-free access. Each event listing has details of the accessibility of the site/facilities available.

Is it suitable for children and families?

Yes! Whilst some of the events programme is more suitable for adults only, there are plenty of events designed with families in mind. We’ll be producing a guide for through those most suitable for families during June’s (extra)ordinary programme.

How much does it cost?

As far as possible, the June (extra)ordinary events are free to access, although some require booking in advance for timed slots (at Oldway Mansion in particular). We are encouraging visitors to make a donation on entry to support heritage venues. Screenings and performances in some venues will have an entry charge. Costs are shown on each of the event listings. The Conversations taking place through the year are free where possible but some have a low ticket price to cover additional costs such as speakers fees.

Is there transport between the different sites in June?

No. However, we have programmed the June events so that there is an emphasis of activities in specific areas on each day. We hope that this will allow you to enjoy a number of events on each individual day without excessive travelling between sites. If you are travelling by car, please check back on this website in May to ensure that you have up-to-date information on recommended parking areas and any road closures.
